Frequently asked
questions

What is the minimum order quantity?
+
The minimum order quantity is 20 metric tonnes, shipped FOB Colombo Port, Sri Lanka. This applies to all grades. For smaller evaluation quantities, please contact us to discuss sample arrangements.
What is the difference between vein graphite and flake graphite?
+
Vein graphite is formed from hydrothermal carbon precipitation deep in the Earth's crust and achieves natural purities of 90–99.5% Cg without chemical treatment. Flake graphite — sourced from China, Madagascar, Brazil and elsewhere — requires acid purification to reach equivalent purity levels. This processing difference matters: vein graphite has superior crystallinity, fewer metallic contaminants, and a smaller environmental footprint per unit of high-purity output.
Can you supply custom particle sizes?
+
Yes. Most grades are available in D50 particle size ranges from 3 µm to 3 mm. Please contact us with your target particle size distribution (D10, D50, D90) and we will confirm availability and pricing. Custom mesh sizes (e.g. 200 mesh, 325 mesh) can also be specified.
What documentation comes with each shipment?
+
Every shipment includes a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) from independent third-party laboratory analysis, Bill of Lading, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), REACH compliance declaration, and a full packing list. Additional documentation — including mine-level sourcing declaration and carbon footprint data — is available on request.
Is your graphite REACH compliant?
+
Yes. Natural graphite (CAS 7782-42-5) is REACH registered. Full REACH documentation is provided with every shipment. For European buyers subject to supply chain due diligence requirements under CSDDD or internal ESG mandates, we can also supply origin documentation and mine-level sourcing declarations.
What is Ceylon graphite?
+
Ceylon graphite is the historical trade name for Sri Lankan vein graphite, used since the British colonial era when Sri Lanka was known as Ceylon. The term remains standard in materials science literature and international procurement specifications. Our graphite originates from the Ragedara mine in Sri Lanka — the world's only commercial source of high-crystallinity vein graphite — and is the same material described as Ceylon graphite in academic and industry references.
Is your graphite affected by China's export restrictions?
+
No. China's graphite export licensing requirements, introduced in October 2023, apply only to Chinese-origin graphite. Sri Lankan vein graphite is entirely independent of the Chinese supply chain and unaffected by these restrictions. See our Supply Security page for more detail.
